Legionella Awareness

Legionella Awareness

Legionella Awareness Course

CIBSE Accredited Legionella Awareness Training for Caretakers and Bursars. This is a half-day course aimed specifically at School Caretakers, Site Managers and Bursars.  Ideally 2 people from each school (the caretaker and the responsible person, this could be a head teacher or businesses manager) should attend. The reason for this is that they both require training under the new HSE ACoP L8* guidance document.

*ACoP L8 Paragraph 50: Inadequate management, lack of training and poor communication are all contributory factors in outbreaks of legionnaires’ disease. It is therefore important that the people involved in assessing risk and applying precautions are competent, trained and aware of their responsibilities.

Course Objectives:

  • To ensure delegates are aware of their legal responsibilities and have the knowledge to oversee Caretakers and Contractors.
  • To enable delegates to demonstrate what control measures should be in place.
  • To provide the information and training required for delegates to consider taking on basic tasks in schools to save cost to the school.
  • To enable delegates to demonstrate competence and help ensure full compliance
